Representatives of more than 100 community organizations from across the Eastern Townships gathered in front of the offices of local CAQ MNAs on Wednesday morning in a demonstration meant to raise awareness around critical underfunding from the provincial government. The protest was a part of a larger set of rotating strikes taking place across Quebec this week, and was organized in the region by ROC Estrie, a roundtable group of community organizations serving a range of different needs in the community.

According to the organizers, the government needs to commit a minimum of $50 million to organizations within the region in the next budget just to help them stay afloat
Protestors gathered in Sherbrooke near the offices of Geneviève Hébert, while actions also took place in front of François Bonnardel’s office in Granby, Gilles Bélanger’s offices in Magog, Isabelle Charest’s office in Cowansville, and that of André Bachand in Val-des-Sources
