A head-on collision between a car and a truck transporting pigs claimed the lives of 39 year old Rock Richer of Compton and several of the animals on Monday evening.
According to Sgt. Aurelie Guindon of the Sûreté du Québec, the collision took place on Route 147 near the Milby covered bridge around 5:30 p.m. on Monday for reasons that are still under investigation. Richer was taken to hospital from the scene with injuries that ultimately claimed his life
The highway was closed to traffic as a result of the accident and was not reopened until 2 a.m.
