Compton Town Hall deemed structurally unsafe

By newsroom

Record Staff – The municipality of Compton has decided to demolish its town hall, considered unsafe, and build a new structure. A survey on the town’s website is asking citizens about the size of the structure and the number of offices that should be included in the new build. Compton held a public consultation in mid-June to inform citizens of the conclusions of the structural evaluation report of the town hall by SM Groupe International Inc. The report concluded that the building was structurally unstable and presented risks to the safety of users. The engineer’s report also added estimates for corrective work compared to the cost of a new building. See full story in the Tuesday, July 24 edition of The Record.
