Quebec reported 95 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infected persons to 60,813. In addition, one new death was recorded, for a total of 5,709. The number of hospitalizations remained stable compared to the previous days, for a cumulative total of 151. Of these, 20 were in intensive care, a decrease of 1. 13,241 tests were taken on August 10, for a total of 1,394,431.
In the Estrie region three new cases were recorded, but a change in the way data is recorded means that the overall total actually went down by one to 1,098 from the previous day. There have been no new deaths related to the virus in the region since June 23, there continue to be no local hospitalizations, and the total number of infected people considered to have recovered is 1,011.
In addition to the number of deaths announced today, 11 deaths are added to the provincial total because of a delay in the transmission of data regarding deaths at the Place Kensington private seniors’ residence earlier this year. According to the CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal ten of these deaths occurred last spring at the private seniors’ residence. This adjustment brings the total of COVID-19 deaths at Place Kensington to 19 residents. The ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux is working to ensure that this does not happen again. Furthermore, the residence no longer has active cases and the situation is now under control.
