After the Quebec government reneged on its decision to stop delivering daily COVID-19 updates, a press release reveals an uptick in cases since June 26.
The Quebec government reported 72 new cases of COVID-19 since Sunday. There has been a total of 55,390 cases of the novel coronavirus. Of those, 955 have been in the Estrie Region. They also recorded seven deaths in the last 24 hours, 37 since the last report, for a total of 5,485 deaths.
The number of hospitalizations remains stagnant at 455, while the number of intensive care patients reached 45 people in total, adding two after seeing a slight drop. The numbers show that since June 25, 311 Quebecers have confirmed cases of the virus.
The government is reminding Quebecers to keep a two metre physical distance. If for any reason they cannot maintain distance, it is recommended to wear a mask and avoid high danger areas like public transportation.
They are also encouraging people to continue washing their hands for 20 seconds with soap and water, keep disinfectant on hand, and respect the 10 people from three households limit in private spaces.
The Quebec government also suggests consulting with the consult Self-care Guide or to call 1 877 644-4545 for more information if someone shows signs of COVID-19 symptoms. The statement also says to self-isolate and cough into your elbow.
