Cross country ski sales on the rise

With coronavirus cases continuing to pile up in Quebec, Townshippers who planned on skiing during the winter are seeking a plan B in the event that the four skill hills in the area — Bromont, Mont Sutton, Owl’s Head, and Mont-Orford – are unable to open.
Simon Gagnon, co-owner of Sports Experts at the Carrefour l’Estrie, said he is seeing a surge in cross-country ski purchases. The store has already hit its cross-country ski sales total from last year, he continued. They’re even running out of stock.
“You can take off on your cross-country skis from your own backyard, you’re not dependent on a mountain, so I think it’s gaining interest,” Gagnon explained.
