Cultural exchange at St-Francis Manor

By Matthew McCully

The residents of Le Renaissance – Manoir St-Francis in Lennoxville traveled the world from the comfort of their own home on Saturday morning thanks to a visit from a group of dancers. The event was a preview of the upcoming Semaine Sherbrookoise des rencontres interculturelles (Sherbrooke cultural exchange week), happening from Nov. 1 to 10 across the city. Throughout the week, now in its sixth edition, a variety of free activities will take place in Sherbrooke with a goal of promoting intergenerational and intercultural exchange. The activities will include potluck suppers, storytelling, an introduction to games from different countries, immigrants sharing the story of their arrival in Canada, tea tastings from different countries and art exhibitions, to name a few. On Saturday morning the St-Francis manor residents were treated to a selection of traditional dances from Cameroon, Burundi and Nepal. See full story in the Monday, Oct. 28 edition of The Record.
