There was a grand celebration on top of LennoxHill this past Sunday in honour of local singer songwriter David Lapp. Lapp has been a musical legend in the area for decades and he is now launching a studio album titled Dave Lapp & Friends LennoxHill Sessions. Friends, family, and other local musicians all gathered together at Lapp’s home to support his creative journey and all that he brings to the community through his music. No one can deny the talent that Lapp brings to the table. “I have a very musical family background,” said Lapp. “My brothers and sisters are professional musicians and my parents are symphonic violinists. The music never stops.” While he didn’t study music in school (he chose to study business), music was still a major part of his life. “I put myself through business school playing clubs.” After graduating in the early 1970s, he realized music was something that he wanted to pursue full time. “I’ve been playing music my whole life but professionally since 1972,” explained Lapp. “I always played my own tunes.”
As an independent artist and songwriter, Lapp self produced some of his own songs and took his talent on the road for over 20 years. See full story in the Tuesday, Dec. 24 edition of The Record.
