The association des Amis du chemin du Lac-d’Argent (ACLA), a citizen’s group in Eastman, is calling on the municipality to temporarily halt its project to widen the busy road and instead go back to the drawing board for a more thorough public consultation.
ACLA President Colette Provost told The Record that the group formed nearly one year ago. And since its inception, members of the concerned citizen’s group, roughly 39 households strong, have attended municipal council meetings to question the proposed road project.
On Monday, the town decided unanimously to go forward with a financial contribution of $26,098, a requirement as part of the application for a certificate of authorization from the Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MELCC).
