As the election period approaches, Elections Quebec would like to remind citizens that the rules of the Election Act concerning signs apply only during the election period. Before this period, the Election Act does not prohibit the posting of signs. However, municipal by-laws apply, where applicable, as well as the Highway Safety Code.
The Elections Act provides a framework for the materials and placement of election signs, but does not provide rules for their content. However, the Act specifies that signs must bear the name of the printer or manufacturer and the name and title of the official agent.
