On Friday, Cégep de Sherbrooke held a job fair for students in the school’s Civil Engineering Technology program. Over 75 students from the program, ranging from first year students to this year’s graduates, were given the chance to explore the various career paths in their field and establish connections with future employers. With over 20 companies from the Estrie region looking to recruit, there was something for all students to relate to and they were opened up to the wide range of employment opportunities that exist here in the Townships. Cégep de Sherbrooke’s Civil Engineering Technology job fair has been taking place for years now and it has continued to expand along the way. “It’s been taking place for more than ten years,” said Fabien Burnotte, organizer of the event, “But now we are more popular.” For this year’s job fair, 21 companies and organizations based in or around Sherbrooke participated, such as Gératek, FNX-Innov, and Cima+, and one business from the South Shore of Montreal looking to recruit students for their expertise. “The companies are always interested in recruiting students so it’s easy for me,” added Burnotte.
