Cyclists in the Eastern Townships are encouraged to take advantage of Estrie Aide’s newest service, Vélotrie, a bicycle repair shop that doesn’t break the bank.
According to the bike department’s communications manager, Angela Sukic, they have a large space, which allows them to repair bikes all year. But it was only recently that they decided to turn their location at 356 Wellington South into a walk-in shop.
“The space wasn’t being used at its capacity, which is why we decided to use it for repairs,” Sukic said.
She added that Townshippers could expect bike repairs to be completed within 24 hours. If they come in on Monday, it’ll be done by Tuesday, she explained, but the shop is also capable of turning a bike over a few hours after the initial deposit.
However, that all depends on quantity and the type of tune up. The shop offers three repair options, each containing more details. The first option is a basic package for $30 that includes visual inspection, brake and speed adjustments, and pumping tires.
At $45, the second option adds moderate lubrication and cleaning. And for $80, their most expensive inspection, cyclists get a full body repair, including dismounting their bike, reassembling, and complete lubrication.
“For us, it’s just offering a service that’s a bit cheaper than other locations, so that people can get their bikes repaired,” said Sukic.
