Local firefighting units from Saint-Denis-de-Brompton, Sherbrooke, Magog and Windsor were unable to determine the cause of the overnight fire that destroyed the Casa Tropical Montessori Daycare, but Sûreté du Québec (SQ) investigators have discovered evidence of arson.
According to a press release on Wednesday, SQ police officers have concluded the fire was criminal in nature. SQ investigators will continue to search for the possible arsonist, or arsonists. Anyone with information can call the criminal information centre at 1-800-659-4264.
“The only thing I can add is this morning in discussing with investigators they confirmed to me that their conclusion is it was an arsonist, or arsonists. There are certain elements that we can’t discuss right now that were found at the scene,” said SQ spokesperson Louis-Philippe Ruel told in a phone interview.
