An experimental measure to control the Emerald Ash Borer that is currently being employed at several sites across Quebec and Ontario has an important link to the Eastern Townships. According to Dr. Robert Lavallée, an entomologist with the Canadian Forestry Service who specializes in the development of biological control methods for insect pests, new traps that have been set up with the goal of helping to control the spread of the Ash-tree-destroying beetle contain a strain of fungus first catalogued at a pine tree plantation in Cookshire.
