The Sherbrooke Expos have emerged as a championship contender in the Ligue de Baseball Majeur du Québec (LBMQ), after they extended their winning streak to six games with crucial wins over Thetford Mines, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, and Victoriaville.
The Expos have put up an impressive run since the end of July. They have strung together eight wins in their last nine games. And they are beating teams with a dynamic offence and stingy defence. They found their groove, and now they are taking it out on the top teams.
Last Wednesday, Sherbrooke visited the Louisville Slugger division leaders Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Pirates. The Expos opened the scoring in the second inning with a Kyle Hazel double off a bad throw. The Pirates stormed back, though, with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
