The Sherbrooke Expos finished only one of three planned matches over the Aug 6-7 weekend.
Saturday afternoon, playing in full sun at home in the Amédée-Roy stadium before a crowd of 322 fans, manager Bruno Laurin’s team secured five points in the fifth inning to secure a 6-4 win over the Acton Vale Castors.
The game began well for the Expos, with Germin Lopez hitting a solo homer in the opening inning, but the Castors soon took a 4-1 lead thanks in part to two points scored by rookie Déric Lamontagne.
Benoit Émond and Ismaël Pena turned that around by hitting singles of two runs each which allowed the Sherbrooke team to win this significant victory.
Matthew Adams-Whittaker added a third victory to his record this season and Tommy Reyes-Cruz backed up that victory by pitching the seventh inning.
Sunday, in Thetford Mines, the Expos trailed 12-6, in the fourth inning, when Mother Nature decided to put an end to the game.
