Wednesday around 8 :30 a.m., an accident involving a pick-up, van and transport truck occurred on Route 249, less than 5 kilometres south of Val-des-Sources.
The Sureté du Québec reported five individuals were transported to hospital. Two were considered seriously injured, the two occupants of the pick-up.
A midafternoon update revealed that the driver of that vehicle, a Val-des-Sources resident in his forties, had succumbed to his injuries. No update was available on the status of the other victims, but they were described as “less seriously injured.”
Initially, SQ said it appeared the pick-up had lost control and veered into the path of the oncoming truck, followed by a second impact with the third vehicle.
