Five-year wait leads community volunteer to private clinic

A local community hero is counting down the days until he receives surgery for his hip at a private health care clinic following a nearly five-year waiting period in the public sector.

While admitting he’s disappointed with the long wait time given for a surgery date, he said he can’t blame the hospitals and the hard-working staff.

He highlighted the toll COVID-19 has taken on the healthcare system.

Robert Halsall – better known as Bob – is a community leader in the Eastern Townships area. While wearing many different hats in various roles, he is widely known for his time spent as the Student Activities Coordinator of Alexander Galt Regional High School in Lennoxville for 38 years.

An active member of the community, Halsall has often found himself donating his time while giving back to youth sports.
