Flag person struck twice by impatient driver

By Matthew McCully – A driver too impatient to follow a detour could face charges of armed assault after bumping a flag person at a road worksite on July 3. The incident took place around 2 p.m. at a worksite on Barton Street in Sherbrooke, according to Sherbrooke Police Services spokesperson Samuel Ducharme. According to Ducharme, the flag person was blocking the road, directing traffic to use a detour. One driver, insistent upon getting by, ignored the directive and attempted to pass. The flag person then stood in front of the car, but the driver continued at a reduced speed, hitting the flag person twice. See full story in the Tuesday, July 9 edition of the The Record.
