Fly-thru food

Nestled in the foothills just outside of Stanstead is the farm of aviation enthusiast and inventor George Weller. Like many other farmers in southern Quebec, Weller runs a u-pick garden and orchard, where customers can walk through the rows of fruits and veggies while picking what they need fresh from the plant.
Unlike most u-pick farms, though, Weller’s features a 2,600-foot grass runway that ends only a few hundred feet from the garden’s entrance. “When the hay is cut you can actually taxi right over to the garden,” he claimed, during an interview over the phone. CTQ2 or Stanstead Weller Airport is a private strip, but Weller is offering its use to aviators looking to get to their produce as the crow flies.
