Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland was in Sherbrooke on Wednesday. During her visit she toured the Royer boot factory in the city’s industrial park and also met with members of the city’s chamber of commerce.
During her visit to the Royer plant, Freeland praised the company and its employees for their perseverance during the COVID-19 pandemic and congratulated them on their work producing boots for the armed forces. She also took the time to underline her commitment to supporting the needs of Canadians during a challenging economic period.
“What we need to do is find balance,” Freeland said, explaining that her priority as finance minister is to create responsible fiscal policy while also supporting Canadians where they need it through various social and economic programs.
