After coming from behind to defeat the Carleton Ravens 7-6 on Saturday evening, the Bishop’s Gaiters men’s lacrosse team was able to secure a spot in the Baggataway Cup this weekend.
General Manager Drew Pollock told The Record the league had a lot more parity this season. Last year, Bishop’s cruised to an undefeated season, bypassing the quarter-finals at the national championships, before losing to the Brock Badgers in a semi-final showdown.
“Whenever you get a chance to go to the national championships it’s always a good experience for the kids, a lot of fun, and very exciting. I told my guys when we did go down 5-3 there, I said the fourth quarter was fun, but it took a few years off my life,” Pollock shared.
The Eastern Conference was much tighter this year, according to Pollock, because the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) reverted back to a two-conference league. CUFLA trimmed down during the pandemic, and split teams into three conferences.
