Galt students learn about First Nations culture and land acknowledgement

By Emilie Hackett,  Special to the Record – Secondary 3 and 4 students in the Enriched History program at Alexander Galt are in the early stages of designing a pre-colonial map of Quebec, showcasing the territories of all the different First Nations. “This initiative is part of our leadership project in the education program at Bishop’s University,” explained Gregory McBean, a secondary mathematics education student. “We knew we wanted to focus our project on reconciliation, because that’s something that is always strongly encouraged at Bishop’s,” he added. McBean is completing this project along with Melanie Daoust and Dominick Richard, secondary education students at Bishop’s specializing in history and English education, respectively.
