With the holiday season approaching, the Eastern Townships Vintage Automobile Club is normally busy preparing a fabulous Christmas supper for its members, held each year at The Hut. A time to gather, a time to share stories, to catch up on the latest article one of us read in a car magazine, to discuss how we have tucked our antique cars away for the winter and how we are excited for the nice warm weather to come back to pull them back out again. But the most important part of our club is being able to give back.
Every year the ETVAC gets together at our car meets on Tuesday nights (cruise nights), we pay our annual club dues, we hold a car show in June, and gather non-perishable items as well as goodies for organizations such as the HUGS (Mental Health Estrie) campaign during our Christmas gathering.
Giving back to the community is an important part of our club. Our annual Christmas supper this year has been cancelled due to the pandemic we are going through. But we do know that the needs in the community are still there. This year the ETVAC was able to come together and give back to the HUGS campaign like we always do, even though we could not get together as we normally do.
This message is to remind everyone that even though we are unable to gather for charitable causes, we can still reach out to an organization to make a donation, by mail, by telephone or even on the internet. Don’t be shy, the need is still there! Helping people feels good! Make a difference, donate, spread joy and happiness in these times of social distancing.
