The town of Stanstead has chosen a new name for the recreation area near its Pat Burns Arena: ‘Generations Park’. The new name was unveiled at a gathering at the park Oct. 20.

“We had a good turn out even though the weather wasn’t so nice,” Stanstead Mayor Jody Stone said, referring to the Oct. 20 gathering. Jacques Demers, Prefect of the Memphremagog MRC, Maxime Ferland, President of the Lac-Memphrémagog Caisse Desjardins, and Stone all spoke at the event.

The three honoured Raymond Parent, a notable volunteer in the Stanstead sports community and after whom the former skating rink at the park was named, by naming the new multi-sport surface there after him again. They then confirmed that the park as a whole would now be called ‘Generations Park’.

Over 50 people attended, including many children.
