Getting louder: Local feminist group reminds change is still needed

Over 50 people gathered in front of Sherbrooke town hall on Monday to raise awareness about the injustices faced by women on a daily basis.
The show of solidarity, labelled a feminist protest, was organized by Sherbrooke’s La Bande Féministe (b.a.F). Created this year, b.a.F. aims to raise awareness about feminist issues and hold government accountable at a local, provincial and federal level.
Monday marked the first of its many initiatives to come.
Anchored in the retelling of stories regarding incarcerated women, b.a.F. used International Women’s Day as an opportunity to remind people that the fight for equality is far from over. Most notably, the group recalled the deplorable living conditions of incarcerated women at Centre Leclerc in Laval.
