Glass drop-off set up in Cowansville

BCN Staff – The City of Cowansville has set up a volunteer drop-off point dedicated to glass in the Super C grocery store lot at 1775, rue du Sud. Citizens are encouraged to go use it to drop their glass bottles and jars so that they are recycled properly. The town decided to follow the lead of the Brome-Missisquoi MRC and offer an ecological option to citizens wishing to participate. Nowadays, a large majority of glass in sorting centers heads to landfills. “For a material that is infinitely recyclable, it’s a pity that its contamination during selective collections prevents its reuse. This new repository will maximize the materials recycled and ensure that they are reused to their full potential,” said Mayor Sylvie Beauregard.
