To celebrate its 200th Anniversary, The Golden Rule Chapter 1 of Royal Arch Masons of Quebec is set to make large monetary donations to three local charities.

Serving the community since 1821, Golden Rule Chapter is one of nine chapters falling under the supervision of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Quebec. As part of the world-wide fraternity of Freemasonry, it promotes the values of personal integrity, dedication to family and service to the community.

According to Bruce Durrant, Scribe Ezra (secretary) for the group, charity has always been an important part of Freemasonry. He highlighted that in the past, their Chapter has contributed to many organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Girl Guides and Pathfinders, the Shriners’ Hospital, Estrie Young Singers, the Wales Home Foundation, and many others.

He said for the 200th anniversary, the group plans to continue doing good in the community.

“Charity has always been an important part of Freemasonry. We have decided to raise funds for three charities that operate within our community and help make it a better place to live,” he said.
