The homeless camp that set up shop in Granby’s Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue Park more than six months ago was dismantled on Monday out of precaution for the upcoming winter months.
Granby Mayor Julie Bourdon told The Record in August that the city council was looking into ways to accommodate the occupants of the camp when the weather begins to dip below zero. On Thursday, Bourdon said the dismantling went well and everyone has been taken care of.
According to Bourdon, the occupants were given a notice in October that the camp would be dismantled. She told The Record that by the time the public works team arrived at the park on Monday there were only three people left, but they weren’t protesting the city’s camp decision.
