Grandes-Fourches Bridge closed as a preventative measure

Record Staff

The ministère des Transports wishes to inform the population that the Grandes-Fourches Bridge, over the Magog River on Route 143 in Sherbrooke, will be completely closed to all traffic on Wednesday, April 21. This preventive closure is necessary to ensure the safety of road users, and follows an inspection that revealed deterioration affecting the structure’s load-bearing
capacity.
In order to limit the impact of this closure on the approximately 10,000 motorists who use this bridge every day, a detour is proposed to users via Galt Street, Route 216 and Highway 610.
