Healthcare support staff ask why experience doesn’t pay

By Gordon Lambie

Support staff within the local healthcare network made themselves heard on Tuesday on the second of three days of demonstrations across the region.
“The goal is really to let the MNAs know that our working conditions, which have been hard for a long time, are now even harder because of COVID,” union representative Melanie Cloutier told The Record.
Although Cloutier said that the demonstrations touch on a lot of issues related to contract renegotiation, she noted that there is also frustration being felt and expressed about the recently announced, fast-tracked orderly training program
“It has established many inequalities which we are opposed to,” the union rep. said.
The third day of protests for the members of the SCFP 4475 union will take place Thursday in Granby.
