With the closing of the fire station in downtown Lennoxville on May 27, the City of Sherbrooke and its fire department held a reception last Saturday to honour the dedicated service since the municipal amalgamation in 2002 by former part-time firefighters. All firefighters who worked out of Fire Station #6 for the Sherbrooke Fire Dept. – and their spouses – were invited to an evening of reminiscing while photos portraying some of their past fires and benevolent work were shown on a TV. Each firefighter received a souvenir plaque with his badge accompanied by the saying ‘A tribute of commitment and loyal services – SPCIS Lennoxville District’. Pictured with the firefighters are several city politicians and the fire chief. Published in the Thursday, June 20 edition of The Record.
