Hospital numbers continue slow decline across Quebec

The Province of Quebec reported 3,153 hospitalizations on Thursday, a decrease of 117 compared to the previous day. Of that total, 235 people were in intensive care, a decrease of 17 compared to the previous day.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday afternoon Interim National Public health director Dr. Luc Boileau said that the hospitalization numbers continue to reinforce the idea that the COVID-19 situation is stabilizing in the province, but he reiterated the importance of moving slowly and managing risk.
The Province reported 56 new deaths on Thursday, for a total of 13,065 since the start of the pandemic.
Thursday’s update was also the first to feature data from the province’s self-reporting tool for at-home tests. According to the information shared, 23,081 rapid tests have been reported so far, including 18,271 positive: 1,813 of which were recorded for Wednesday, including 1,153 positive.
There were 163 people in hospital with Covid in the Eastern Townships on Thursday, 17 of whom were in intensive care. The region reported another three deaths linked to the virus, bringing the local total up to 496.
