Hospital numbers jump back up by 41 across Quebec

The number of people in hospital with COVID-19 across Quebec rose by 41 on Tuesday, climbing back up to 1,043. This marked the largest increase in new patients since hospital numbers began to drop in mid-January. Tuesday was also the second consecutive day where the numbers went up after several weeks of continuous decreases.

Where overall Covid patients increased, the number of people in intensive care was down slightly, decreasing by two to reach 46.

The province also recorded another seven Covid-related deaths for a total of 14,272 since the start of the pandemic.
In the Eastern Townships there were 65 people in hospital with the virus on Tuesday, an increase of four from the previous day. Only one of those people was in intensive care, however.

The region also recorded one new death related to the virus, bringing the local total to 548.
