Hospital numbers lower in the Townships following Easter weekend

The Province of Quebec reported 2,281 people in hospital with COVID-19, 939 of whom were there directly because of the virus. The overall number represents an increase of 61 compared to Monday’s data.

There were 101 people in intensive care with Covid across Quebec on Tuesday, an increase of six compared to Monday. 65 of those people were in the ICU due to their coronavirus infection.

There were 18 new Covid-related deaths recorded Tuesday, for a total of 14,714 since the start of the pandemic.
The number of health care workers absent for COVID-related reasons (such as preventive withdrawal, isolation, awaiting results, etc.) got smaller over the weekend, but remained significant at 10,636.

In the Eastern Townships the number of people in hospital with Covid went down over the weekend, dropping from 148 to 131. The number of people in intensive care also decreased from seven to four. There were no additional Covid-related deaths recorded from Monday to Tuesday in the region, keeping the local total at 563.
