By Matthew McCully – Fannie Gaudette is well-known in the area for her work as a pianist, teacher at Champlain and Bishop’s, Choir Director of the Bishop’s University Singers, and member of a cappella group Eight Misbehavin’.
It turns out she has more musical tricks up her sleeve. Since May of last year, Gaudette has been working with Normand Achim as the musical half of a songwriting duo known as Fannie + Achim. They are currently competing in a French language songwriting competition, Ma première Place des Arts, taking place in Montreal. While local audiences have yet to hear the music, Gaudette performed four songs at Place des Arts on Tuesday evening as part of the first round of the competition. They will find out on March 13 if they will be moving forward to the semi finals. See full story in the Friday, Feb. 1 edition of The Record.
