Jacques Cartier Bridge and King Street West top this week’s list of road construction sites in Sherbrooke

Drivers in Sherbrooke can expect challenges near the Jacques-Cartier Bridge this week as planing work to prepare for eventual paving gets underway. According to Caroline Gravel, Sherbrooke’s Director of Urban Infrastructure, the work reduces the major span to a single lane, which will alternate directions between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Paving work will follow, at night, until July 11, resulting in the complete closure of the bridge for a short time.
Separate from the work to repair the surface of the road, Dominique Gosselin of the provincial transport ministry (MTQ) said that following an inspection of the bridge last month, the sidewalk on the west side has been closed indefinitely.
