During Tuesday evening’s Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB) Council of Commissioners meeting, the board announced the departure of Director General Michel Soucy, effective June 30, 2023. Kandy Mackey, the current Assistant Director General, will resume the position of Director General, effective July 1, 2023. She previously held the position in recent years, but stepped away from the role for personal reasons on August 12, 2020.
The resolution to appoint Mackey anew was adopted unanimously.
As a result of the shuffle, Sophie Leduc, current director of financial services, was appointed Assistant Director General, effective July 1, 2023. She will retain her mandate as director of financial and taxation services.
“Welcome aboard as our new general direction team. We’re all very pleased you’ve accepted to continue to serve us in this capacity,” said ETSB Chair Mike Murray.
During the meeting, Human Resources Director Caroline Dufresne, pointed out that Appalachian Teachers’ Association President Megan Seline, was attending her final meeting and is set to retire.
Dufresne highlighted that Seline always had a focus to bring about changes that would make the system better for teachers and students.
