Know before you go to municipal beaches

Record Staff – Both public beaches in Sherbrooke are touch-and go following consecutive days of hot weather and Tuesday’s rain. According to the City, blue-green algae was detected at the Deauville beach on Av. Du Parc in the Borough of Brompton-Rock Forest Tuesday. The beach was closed Tuesday pending testing. Media reps for the city were unable to confirm whether the issue would be cleared up to welcome swimmers Wednesday. The Lucien-Blanchard beach on Cabana Street, was also closed Tuesday as a precaution. While Deauville beach is susceptible to algae blooms during hot weather, Lucien-Blanchard Park runs into trouble when there is too much rain.
