Two of Canada’s more prominent authors will bring magic and mystery to Lac Brome during The Knowlton Literary Festival, October 11-14, 2018. Festival organizers are delighted to present the international best-selling author Wayne Johnston, whose many works capture the allure and magic of Newfoundland. Another pre-eminent festival guest is Giles Blunt, an extraordinary mystery writer, winner of the Arthur Ellis Award and the CWA Macallan Silver Dagger Award. Blunt’s murder mysteries are set in the cold and and brooding landscape of Northern Ontario. His compelling and complex central character is Detective John Cardinal. Together with his partner, Lise Delorme, Cardinal seeks the answers to murderous acts committed in the hauntingly beautiful ‘Algonquin Bay’ area. The atmospheric elements of Northern Ontario winters: the brutal cold, the endless snow, the tall shadows of dark spruce, and the long, long nights, are all key to Blunt’s work.
