Lac-Mégantic resident charged in case of  extreme animal neglect

The SPA de l’Estrie has criminally charged a Lac-Mégantic resident for having purposefully abandoned two dogs and a cat in distress as well as willfully failing to provide the animals with food, water, shelter, and basic care. On Jan. 31, inspectors from the SPA de l’Estrie had to intervene urgently in response to a complaint filed about the residence where the animals in question were housed. On arrival, they found two dogs and a very weak cat. “They were just skin and bones, downright skeletal,” says Geneviève Cloutier, spokesperson for the SPA de l’Estrie.
