Lac-­Mégantic trial ­deliberations: one week without a verdict

The deliberations in the trial of former Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway employees of Jean Demaître, Richard Labrie, and Thomas Harding reached day seven yesterday, with no news so far of a unanimous decision from the jury. After having come back to the courtroom twice in that time, once on Monday with questions of clarification and then again on Tuesday to say that they were at an impasse, the jury did not resurface at all on Wednesday, leaving lawyers, the accused, and visiting members of the media to pace in the halls.
