Lagace makes 45 stops to put Phoenix back on winning track

Alexandre Lagacé made 45 saves as the Sherbrooke Phoenix defeated the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 4-1 on Friday night at the Sports Palace. The 18-year-old picked up his first win of the season as the Phoenix halted their three-game winning streak with the victory in their annual “Pink at the Rink” game.

Chase Harwell led the Phoenix offensively with two goals, as he opened the scoring at 9:33 of the first, and hit the net at 4:17 of the second. Julien Pelletier and Guillaume Gauthier had the other Sherbrooke goals, as the Phoenix led 1-0 after one and 3-0 after two periods.

Vladimir Kuznetsov broke the shutout for the Titan as he scored with 3:43 left.

Daryl MacCallum started the game, making 24 saves in 40 minutes of action. He suffered the loss. Reilly Pickard came on to play the third period, making 11 stops in 20 minutes of relief work.

The Titan outshot Sherbrooke 46-39 and were 0-6 on the power play, while Sherbrooke was 1-for-6.

The Phoenix are back in action on Sunday as they host Val d’Or at the Sports Palace. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
