By Emilie Hackett, Special to the Record – According to a report released on Tuesday by the Estrie Public Health Department, 15 Townshippers died as a result of last summer’s extreme heatwave that occurred between June 30 and July 6. The victims, aged 58 to 93, died as a result of heat-related complications. Another 64 people also experienced health issues caused by the extreme weather, the report said. June and July of 2018 resulted in some of the hottest days the area has ever known, resulting in Quebec’s hottest summer in 146 years, explained Dr. Mélissa Généreux, Public Health Director.
