Le Cordonnier says goodbye

The Boutique Le Cordonnier, a feature of the Alexander Street landscape for the last 19 years and of the Townships in general for the last 30, is closing its doors. Having started his trade in Longueil before moving to the region the store’s owner, Georges Pinard, says he is coming up on sixty years of shoe repair, and that it is time for him to pack up his threads and retire.

“I’ve been in the Eastern Townships since 1986, but I am closing,” Pinard said, adding that he tried to sell the business, but got no offers.
