Legault says 28-day challenge may lag on past October

With the province still recording around 1,000 new COVID-19 cases daily, Quebec Premier Francois Legault said Thursday that that the chances of red zone restaurants re-opening for in-person dining by
Oct. 29 are low. He is expected to give more details next week.
Quebec reported 1,033 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people infected in the province to 97,321.
In the Estrie region, 33 new cases were reported, bringing the local total to 2,438.
Eight deaths occurred in the last 24 hours, and 12 deaths others that occurred in recent weeks were added, bringing the death toll in Quebec to 6,094.
The number of hospitalizations decreased by 12 compared to the previous day, for a cumulative total of 553. Among those, 101 are in intensive care.
