The writing was on the wall within less than an hour of polls closing across the country. While it was yet to be decided whether it would be a minority or majority, media outlets declared that the Liberal Party of Canada would form the next government. It is not yet clear whether the Liberals will have gained any seats as a result of the election.
With candidates in extremely tight races in several ridings locally, and dozens across the country, giving any further details would be pure speculation as The Record went to press. In the 2019 election, the Liberals won 157 seats, Conservatives won 121, the Bloc Québécois got 32, the NDP had 24 seats, and the Green party had three.
See Page 3 for the available details about local ridings, and Wednesday’s paper for more detailed election coverage.
