By Steve Blake – The Knowlton Lions Club and volunteers from the community put together the Lions’ Christmas baskets for the less fortunate Friday night at Knowlton Academy. The volunteers came from Knowlton and other municipalities like Bromont and Cowansville despite the chilling rain. “It’s hard to come out on a night like this,” Lion Winston Mason told the crowd as they were about to begin filling more than 80 large bags with food. The operation took less than 45 minutes under the direction of Gary Crandall, who has been coordinating the event for about 10 years. Some volunteers stood beside boxes of specific items while others carried the bags past them. It was clear by the looks on their faces that when they were full the bags were heavy.
