Summertime is a season when people often get to thinking about how to stay healthy or get back in shape. Starting sometimes even before the first nice day in spring, people can be seen getting active in different ways all across the Eastern Townships, depending on their level of ability. According to Paul Lessard, the same is true for people who live with physical disabilities, although they face a few additional challenges, depending on their individual needs. Lessard is President of the local chapter of the Association québécoise de voile adaptée, which has been offering sailing sessions to people with all kinds of physical challenges, from paralysis to blindness, through the Club Nautique du Petit Lac Magog in Rock Forest for the last 20 years. “We want to be able to offer this opportunity to as many people as possible,” the president said, “it is open to everyone.” See full story in the Thursday, June 20 edition of The Record.
