Fernand Courchesne finished a 934-kilometre trek from Tadoussac to Sherbrooke on July 3 with a final pit stop at Lac des Nations as part of the second annual Grande course partagée de l’inclusion.
Courchesne, a health care worker promoting home care for people with a loss of autonomy, was not alone in his journey to Sherbrooke. He ran the unfathomable distance with several co-runners using a Kartus, an adapted running chair for people with reduced mobility.
The personal challenge, which started on June 4, is another entry into Courchesne’s recent efforts to put a spotlight on the concept of shared races and the inclusion of people with reduced mobility in sporting activities. The goal is social integration and a better life.
